The Aviator’s Go-Tos | Compact, Rechargeable Flashlights

Flashlights come in handy in all sorts of situations, from the mundane to the harrowing. Whether your favorite travel mug dropped beneath your car’s passenger seat, or you are warding off a nighttime bear attack during a camping trip, flashlights can be veritable lifesavers. And there are few professions where you will need a flashlight as consistently and crucially as in aviation.

Take your “preflight,” the checklist of actions you must complete prior to any takeoff. Many of these actions take place outside the aircraft, where there might not be sufficient light, or no light at all, depending on the time of day. You will need to check the auxiliary fuel pump, the instruments and radio, the flight controls, altimeter, and directional gyro, among other things. Without a flashlight, it can be difficult to accurately check these things, and you might be sacrificing safety and accuracy.

What’s more, not all flashlights are created equal. It may seem like a simple enough tool, but the quality among flashlights varies wildly, and if you pick up a cheap flashlight from a dollar store, you might find it not working when you most need it to. This is why pilots need to select their flashlights carefully.

Luckily for you, we know flashlights. We work with them on a daily basis in our own aviation duties and intimately know good from bad flashlights. But we have also spent the time to find the flashlights that are most useful for both pilots and non-pilots. In our collection, you will find lights that you can easily use on the airstrip and in your home; on your camping trip and in your vehicle.

One of our favorites is the Ultra Bright USB Rechargeable Flashlight. This little flashlight may not look like much—it’s less than two inches in height—but it packs a very bright punch, so don’t turn it on while looking at the bulb! Highly portable—it has an opening so you can put it on a keychain or a lanyard—this flashlight is perfect for any circumstance, mundane or dire. And you can recharge it through a USB connection, a huge help to techies everywhere!

Our most compact flashlight is the Mini USB Rechargeable flashlight. Teeny tiny, this flashlight is nonetheless built for serious circumstances. It outputs light in three different colors, white, blue, and red, for emergencies.

For something with a little more illuminating power, take a look at the Ultra Bright USB Rechargeable Compact Flashlight. Still small in size and rechargeable via USB connection, this flashlight is easy and convenient. But turn it on and you’ll be harnessing 1000 lumens of light that can illuminate for up to 140 meters in distance. This flashlight will also last you 156 hours before it needs to be charged. Juice this guy up once in a blue moon, and don’t worry about running out of power anytime soon.

For the great illuminating power, you’ll need this Ultra-Bright Compact Flashlight. This light can illuminate up to 218 meters with an intensity of 1200 lumens. Incredibly, it is still small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and can be recharged via USB connection.

Browse our selection of compact flashlights. From bright to ultra bright, we have the one you’ll need for your next adventure.
